KUMGANGSAN TRAVEL INFO

To and from Kumgang-San

Car/bus The 108-km road from Wonsan to Kumgang-San more or less goes parallel with the coast. The whole road is fenced or wired, except near the teahouse at the Sijung Lake, (see Wonsan) where it is possible to have a swim. There are military guards, but at a distance. Ten kilometer further you will pass the small city of Tongchon. Two km east of Tongchon the Chongsokjong can be seen. The road continues southwards. The more closer to Kumgangsan, thus the more closer to the South, the more frequent are the military checkpoints. Usually tourists can continue quickly. 42 km after Tongchon you will pass Kosong, the entrance to Kumgangsan. The Kumgangsan Hotel is another 8 km drive.
