KUMGANGSANKUMGANGSAN

Kumgangsan

The beautiful landscape of the Diamond Mountains (Kumgang-San) with its 12,000 peaks is located at the eastcoast of Korea, south of Wonsan, and not far from the demarcation line with the South.

Nota bene: Since 1999 Kumgangsan is no longer accessible for foreign tourists, the reason being that a South-Korean (sic!) company has hired all accommodations for staff holidays. They bring in the tourists by boat and in 2001 it was decided to build a direct road. Part of the area of Kumgangsna might be open from the northern side again in 2002.
