Pyongyang-MyohyangTo and from Myohyang

Train Myonhyang Mountains can be visited on a day-trip by train from Pyongyang. The train leaves at 06.00 from Pyongyang and arrives at 09.00 in Hyangsan. In the dining car a breakfast is served. The train back leaves at 18.00 and arrives at 21.00 in Pyongyang. It is possible to have dinner on the train.

Car/bus By road there are two possible routes from Pyongyang.

Pyongyang-Pyongsong-Sunchon-Myohyang. This route is 150 km and the most popular of the two, because it uses the better roads and passaes along several cities. After 32 km you will pass Pyongsong, capital of South Pyongan Province and a city of science and culture. After another 22 km you will get to Sunchon, a center of chemical industry. Another 45 km you will pass Kaechon. After that and passing Kujang it is another 53 km to Myohyang.

Pyongyang-Anju-Myohyang. The more western route is 160 km. After 23½ km you will get to Sunan. 17 km further is Pyongwon. Near Pyongwon is the Sogam Reservoir. After 14 km you will pass Sukchon. From Sukchon it is 12 km to Mundok. 13 km further is Anju. Near Anju there is, near the Chongchon River, the Paeksang Pavilion. The road continues along the Chongchon River. From Anju it is 25 km to Kaechon. Here the two routes meet and after another 53 km you will get into Myohyang.
