WONSAN SIGHTSThe spy ship Pueblo was confiscated, and the American crew taken prisoners, by the Korean navy in 1968. Sometimes it is possible to visit the ship. A navy officer will show you around; he is supposedly one of the conquerors of the Pueblo. Politically it is an interesting excursion.

It is possible to
have a harbor cruise on a small passenger ship. There are also
boat trips to some of the islands before the coast and along
Tonchok Peak.
At the coast 3 km northwest of Wonsan city is Songdowon. In an area of 500 ha there are beautiful beaches, gardens and pavilions.
Pine Forest Songdowon is densely forested with more than 700 years old pine trees. In the forest are some lodges and camps.
Flower Garden Apart from the many kinds of flowers in the garden there are a glasshouse, a lotus pool, an artificial hill and a fountain to be seen.
Botanical and Zoological Garden The zoo is not very big, but does contain many species of birds and many other animals.
Park The park has a lotus lake more than
10 ha big. In the lake are artificial hills, bridges, pavilions,
a fountain and falls.
Children's Camp At the seaside is the Songdowon International Childrens Union Camp, comprising an area of 10 ha. From the middle of April until the end of October children from all over the country can spend a holiday here.

Near Wonsan is the Kalma Peninsula with the 4 km long Myongsasimni Beach.
Tongjong Lake
Lake Tongjong is located 37 km from Wonsan, in the direction of Kumgangsan. The 5 kmē big lake used to be a lagoon, but was closed from the sea by a sand hill.
Sijung Lake
Lake Sijung is 48 km from Wonsan and 60 km from Kumgangsan. The 3 kmē big lake is 3,5 meters deep. There is a sandy beach and it is possible to swim here. Near the lake there is also a sanatorium.
